The ChatGPT Images Flyer & Product Photo Guide

ChatGPT Images 2.5 for flyers and product photos. What's new, the prompt that builds your image kit, and the three ways an edit goes wrong.

The change. ChatGPT Images 2.5 arrived on 8 September 2026, across all tiers — free included. The part that matters for a flyer: OpenAI says the new model is “better at editing only what you’ve asked for, while keeping the rest of the details the same.” One typo shouldn’t cost you the whole image.

What’s new, in plain terms

The feature What you do with it
Comment on the image Open a generated image full-screen in the ChatGPT app, then comment on the one part that’s wrong — the headline, a colour, an object — and ask for that change only
Templates Sidebar → Images → Templates, pick a category, then a template. OpenAI names Poster and Merch as examples. Not in Work mode yet
Sketch Type @ in the message box and pick Sketch. Draw the layout, describe what you want, and it turns your rough art into a complete image
Every plan Images 2.5 rolled out to ChatGPT on desktop, mobile and web, across all tiers

OpenAI documents the comment and sketch steps on the phone app. Menu names move as features roll out — if you don’t see one yet, the prompts below still work.

đź“‹ Paste this into your AI

Copy this into ChatGPT and fill in the two brackets. It takes a minute.

I run a [type of business — e.g. a flower shop] and I’m promoting [what’s coming up — e.g. a grand opening]. Build me an image kit I can paste into ChatGPT one piece at a time:

  1. Three flyer prompts. Each one names the layout, the exact headline text, two colours and the mood, and leaves clear space for my logo.

  2. Two product photo prompts that keep my product exactly as it is and change only the background, the surface and the light.

  3. For each one, the single follow-up line I’d type to change one part — the headline, one colour, one object — and keep everything else the same.

  4. The five things that make an AI image look fake in my line of work, and the exact words that fix each one.

Write them so I can copy one at a time. Then ask me the three things you’d need to know to make them fit my business exactly.

What comes back is a set of prompts you can use today — and the wording for fixing one part instead of starting over.

The three traps

  • The edit can spill. OpenAI’s own help page says it plainly: “Highlights are not always precise, and edits may extend beyond the area you selected.” Look at the parts you didn’t ask about before anything goes to print.
  • Name the one thing. “Fix the spelling in the headline” beats “make it better.” The more of the image your instruction touches, the more of it moves.
  • It’s marked as AI, and it isn’t a licence for someone else’s brand. OpenAI attaches provenance metadata and an invisible watermark to its images. Keep real logos, real brands and real people out of them.

Start this week

  1. Fix one thing. Take the image you’re least happy with, point at the single part that’s wrong, and change only that.
  2. Paste the prompt. Get your three flyer prompts and two product photo prompts.
  3. Stop starting blank. Next flyer, open a template first.
